A world of difference
Our eyes met
and for a few seconds
...two world apart
faced each other
Standing with a pick in her hand
A sleeping baby on her back,
She stop work for a few minutes.
Headscarf of faded cloth,
Tied back dusty, uncombed hair.
Hand and feet leathered
from constant work on
the mountain road.
Snow lay around the shacks...
A child playing, no nappy, no shoes.
Icicles hanging on bamboo walls.
A group crouched around a wood fire
Turn...
And met our gaze too.
What do you really think of us?
Foreigners?
Strangers?
From another planet...
Called "Affluence";
As we pass by over your handiwork,
Your toil and sweat.
She stared back at me.
How could I understand?
Not just a car window
Between us
...A world of difference

Hey, did you write this?
Actually not, I took it from some of my English books. They did not print the author name there.
It was in our english books as well, that's why I was wondering
I see. It has been 7 years and I still see it touching.
I didn't like it all that much. Where are you from if I may ask?
Then it should be something different that makes you remember. I am Vietnamese.
